Located in the cool climate wine region of Murrumbateman NSW, Canberra, Shaw Wines is a family owned and operated business. The Shaw family moved to Murrumbateman and in 1998 purchased “Olleyville” a historic 700 acre fine wool producing property which dated back to the mid 19th century.

At the 2018 London Wine Competition, wines from Shaw Vineyard Estate won a total of five awards. The wines that were awarded were:

2015 Shiraz- With a total score of 90 points, the 2015 Shiraz was awarded a gold medal at the competition. The wine has a black cherry red color with purple tones. At the nose, it has raspberry and black fruit with hints of cherry and the palate is robust and juicy with forest fruits, cranberries and lovely spice notes.

2015 Reserve Merriman Cabernet Sauvignon- The 2015 Reserve Merriman Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded a silver medal with an overall score of 83 points. A luscious, indulgent wine with great ageing potential, this wine has a deep garnet red color. At the nose, it has blueberry and blackberry with a palate that is soft and velvety with hints of blackberry and cassis.

2015 Cabernet Shiraz- With a score of 74 points, the 2015 Cabernet Shiraz was awarded a bronze medal at the 2018 London Wine Competition. A traditional Australian blend, the wine exhibits aromas of mulberries and blackberry spice.

2015 Winemakers Selection Cabernet Merlot- Garnet red in colour with hints of purple, the 2015 Cabernet Merlot was awarded a bronze medal at the competition. The nose of the wine shows vibrant fresh blackfruit notes and the palate is fruit driven with blackberry and blueberry flavours.

2015 Winemakers Selection Merlot- The 2015 Merlot was also awarded a bronze medal at the 2018 London Wine Competition. It has a garnet red color with aromas of blackcurrant and blueberry and also has underlying tones of forest fruits. The palate shows juicy plums and blueberries with hints of cranberry. The wine also has a nice soft texture to it.

All the wines of Shaw Vineyards are produced using top quality estate grown fruit. Located in a prime position the Estate is unique and has a cool climate perfectly suitable for producing Cabernet. With around 85 acres of Riesling, Semillon, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon under vines, the property supplies Shaw wines with its entire production and can lay claim to the fact that they produce 100% Estate grown wines.
