What to Do When You're Waiting to See the Wine Buyer

Ready to pitch your wine buyer? Here are some awesome tips for good sales representatives on what to do when you're waiting to see the wine buyer.

Here are some of the things you can do while waiting for your turn. And a couple of things you should not do is chat and not be prepared.

  1. Check the store and the need.

  2. Clean your old products if they have dust on them.

  3. Move your products to the front if they have gaps.

  4. Merchandise your product.

  5. Make sure your pricing and samples and “wine opener” and pour cups are there in your bag. The last thing you want to ask the retailer is do you have plastic cups. If they prefer glass they normally have their own glass which they will present.

  6. Don’t chat with other reps.

  7. Help the customer if near your product aisle and if no one is attending the customer.

  8. Memorize the price. Please don’t tell the retailer “let me get back or check”.

  9. Make sure shelf-talkers, pricing sheet and samples all match.

  10. All done. Simply wait in line.
